“You want my title? I want your recognition”: The final face-off between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey ahead of Wrestlemania 38

Rousey and Flair

Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey are gearing up for one of the biggest matches of their respective careers. The will be colliding for the Smackdown Women’s Championship in the main event of Wrestlemania Saturday. Interestingly, neither of them are alien to main-eventing the Showcase of Immortals.

The Queen as well as the Baddest Woman on the Planet were a part of the first-ever Wrestlemania women’s main event match. Interestingly, both of them had entered the match as Champions, Rousey with the Raw Women’s Championship and Flair with the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Surprisingly, neither of them walked out a Champion. Becky Lynch had emerged victorious and walked home with both the titles!

Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair have an opportunity to redeem themselves this year – when they collide in a singles match. The build up to this match has been quite brutal – involving some harsh words and really brutal brawls. If the buildup to this rivalry is anything to go by, the Smackdown Women’s Championship match could well be the best match of the night.

Both the Superstars will be raring to go ahead and prove their mettle. In less than 24 hours we will be seeing Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey in action. But ahead of their clash, both the Superstars sat face to face for one final time, in an interview with ESPN MMA. Flair revealed that while Rousey is after her title, she is after Rousey’s recognition.

“Ronda Rousey is single handedly the most famous athlete on the planet and it p****s me off. You want my title? I want your recognition,” mentioned the Smackdown Women’s Champion. “I think your title is more attainable for me than my recognition is for you. Charlotte Flair is hands down the greatest woman that [has ever] wrestled. When you think about how great she is, how annoying must she be for everyone to be fed up with her still,” retorted the Baddest Woman on the Planet.

Ronda Rousey made a rousing return at 2022 Royal Rumble and went on to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Traditionally the winner of the Rumble earns the opportunity to main event Wrestlemania. Hence, when Rousey announced that she will be going after Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, it was certain that they will be the main event of Wrestlemania Saturday.

But it seems like the plan isn’t set in stone. The Wrestlemania RAW episode seems to suggest that the company is still deliberating on the main event. KO Show featuring Kevin Owens and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is the frontrunner to close the first night of the 38th edition of Showcase of Immortals.
