“Best wrestler in the world”: Cody Rhodes reveals the details of his meeting with Vince McMahon

Rhodes and McMahon
Cody Rhodes made his much-awaited return to WWE at Wrestlemania 38. He had first signed with the company way back in 2006, and was a part of the roster for a decade, before departing in 2016. In 2018, a new wrestling promotion by the name of All Elite Wrestling was revealed. Rhodes mentioned that he would be serving as one of the Executive Vice Presidents of the company.
All Elite Wrestling gained immense popularity and so did Rhodes. AEW soon emerged as the biggest competitor to WWE and started giving the company a run for their money. Rhodes too was dominating the roster as he went on to become the inaugural AEW TNT Championship. The company too was able to attract some of the top talents from WWE.
But earlier this year, his contract with AEW expired, and Cody Rhodes wasn’t able to come to an agreement for a new contract. Soon rumors started doing rounds that he had once against signed with WWE. The announcement of Seth Rollins facing a mystery opponent only fueled up these speculations.
But all the rumors turned out to be true as the American Nightmare made a thunderous return to WWE at Wrestlemania 38. He was, in fact, the mystery opponent for Rollins. Both the Superstars delivered one of the best matches of the night with Cody Rhodes picking up the win. As soon as the surprise was unveiled, Variety published an interview with the former AEW star. During the interview, Rhodes revealed his interaction with the boss Vince McMahon.
“I told Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard and Nick Khan, this very small circle of individuals. I told them what I truly believe and it’s that I’m the best wrestler in the world. And to go further with it, I actually don’t think there’s a close second. But with that said, the opportunity now exists to prove it,” mentioned the American Nightmare.
Cody Rhodes returned with a massive win

The crowd at Wrestlemania Saturday wasn’t categorically loud, but there were two moments when they absolutely loud. One was, predictably, when “Stone Cold” Steve Austin returned and the other being the return of Cody Rhodes. There is no doubt about his and Seth Rollins’ prowess inside the ring.
But they went on to deliver one of the best matches of the night. In fact, Rollins is one of the biggest Superstars on the WWE roster currently and picking up a win over him does say a lot. The company has once again shown some immense faith in Rhodes and have teased that he will be a main-event star.
