On the latest episode of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes dealt with the fallout of Money in the Bank. After Solo Sikoa pinned the Undisputed WWE Champion last weekend, the latter had a lot on his mind. During the show, Randy Orton talked with his old teammate backstage and promised to watch his back amid the ongoing Bloodline feud. However, he also vowed to help Rhodes after the rivalry with the faction ends.

Since early May, WWE has teased the long-awaited dream match between the former Legacy teammates. At Clash at the Castle, Sikoa and The Bloodline jumped The American Nightmare from behind. Moments later, Orton, along with Kevin Owens, saved the champion from a beatdown. Following this segment, The Viper glanced for a while at Rhodes’ title, which was lying over his shoulder.

Despite teaming up at Money in the Bank, the numbers’ game caught up to the trio. With that said, it seems fans will have to wait a little while longer for their eventual match. On SmackDown, the SummerSlam main event was made official. Cody Rhodes will be squaring off against Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed Championship at the Biggest Party of the Summer.

In the closing angle of the show, the Georgia native tried to take on The Bloodline by himself. He would be saved by Randy Orton, who bore the brunt of the attack. The faction took out The Apex Predator with a Shield triple powerbomb while forcing Rhodes to watch on. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how things pan out between the two in the coming months on SmackDown.

Randy Orton explained why Kevin Owens was absent from SmackDown

In the aforementioned backstage segment, Randy Orton talked about the third member of the trio, Kevin Owens. As many might know, The Prizefighter revealed that his mother had been hospitalized days before Money in the Bank. Despite that, Owens showed his professionalism by competing on Saturday.

With that said, The Viper disclosed that the former Universal Champion was spending time with his family. Since The Bloodline’s inception, the 40-year-old wrestler has been in a never-ending rivalry with the group.

However, at Money in the Bank, Owens, along with the former Legacy teammates, failed to put an end to Solo Sikoa’s rebellion. Therefore, only time will tell how The Bloodline saga plays out during the summer as Cody Rhodes looks alone in his battle against the faction.
