“They cheated”: Former UFC Heavyweight Champion reacts to the controversial Charlotte Flair – Ronda Rousey finish at Wrestlemania
Rousey and Flair
Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey went to battle in the co-main event of Wrestlemania Saturday. The Smackdown Women’s Championship did not change hands after a brutal brawl, as Flair managed to retain the title after some questionable actions. In the build up to this match, both the Superstars had announced that they will make their opponent tap out.
In fact, throughout the course of the match both, The Queen as well as the Baddest Woman on the Planet both exchanged submission holds to try and get the upper hand over the other. This led to one of the best matches of the night. But in the end, Rousey did manage to get Flair to tap out!
Unfortunately, moments before Charlotte Flair had tapped out, Rousey had pushed her into the corner. The Smackdown Women’s Champion took down the referee with her. Hence, when she was tapping out, there was no official to see it. By the time he got up, Flair was back in the game and managed to pin Rousey.
Flair clearly failed to force Rousey to tap out for the first time in her career, but she also failed to secure a clean win. Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier took to Twitter to call out the controversial finish and announce that Ronda Rousey was cheated with. “They cheated Ronda Rousey!” – tweeted Cormier.
Charlotte Flair – Ronda Rousey rivalry is far from over
The rivalry between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair had kicked off way back at the 2022 Royal Rumble. The Baddest Woman on the Planet had gone on to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match and had chosen Flair as her Wrestlemania opponent. Since the beginning of this rivalry, they have clashed in a Tag Team match at Elimination Chamber.
The feud has involved some strong promos and some really brutal brawls. Their match at the Showcase of Immortals was everything and much more than what the fans had expected. But the finish leaves the door wide open! With a controversial finish, there is no doubt that there is more of Flair vs Rousey to be seen.
