Huge update over Paige’s WWE in-ring return
Paige is one of the most talented women of WWE
WWE has updated Paige’s status on their official website. The former WWE Women’s Champion was last seen competing in the ring in December 2017 when she squared off against Sasha Banks in a live event. Owing to the neck injury sustained in that match, Paige was forced to take retirement from in-ring competition.
However, Paige has been in contract with WWE ever since, although not as a wrestler. She has been involved in multiple non-wrestling roles with the most highlighting one being the Smackdown Live General Manager as well as the Manager of the tag team of Asuka and Sane named the Kabuki Warriors. Paige has always been a fan favourite, and if not for her injuries, she would have had a legendary career. She is the only woman to simultaneously hold the NXT Women’s Championship and the WWE Diva’s Championship. It doesn’t seem like it’ll be long until we see the Anti-Diva again, according to what the most recent tease by WWE suggests.
Paige has been added to the active WWE Alumni section
The Anti-Diva was recently promoted to WWE.com‘s “Current Superstars” column after serving as an advocate for a few years. Nevertheless, the Anti-Diva is still not listed as a part of any brand. This could be a clear indication from WWE that she might be making her in-ring return, sooner than later. Paige has been keen herself to make her in-ring return as she has been sweating it out as well as she has teased her in-ring return multiple times.
Paige recently tweeted about wanting to return to the ring at some point, and fans have pointed to Edge and Bryan Danielson’s successful comebacks as proof that it is doable. Others, on the other side, are bringing up those examples and criticising Paige for not following the rules and returning to WWE, which she has addressed.
Edge and Danielson were forced to retire from in-ring action due to neck difficulties, and while they remained involved with WWE after that, they were unable to fight in the ring. After a long layoff, Edge was cleared to wrestle again, and he made his big return at the Royal Rumble.
Similarly, Danielson (formerly Daniel Bryan) would take over as GM for a brief time before being cleared and returning to active competition and championship contention before eventually departing WWE to join All Elite Wrestling.
However, now it looks like the time is here and we could see the anti-diva in action anytime soon.
