WWE Superstar made an awe-inspiring return two years ago at Royal Rumble and soon went ahead to Main-Event WrestleMania alongside Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. He was also involved at this year’s Stupendous WrestleMania in a match against The Phenomenal-AJ Styles.
In a recent interview with Steven’s Wrestling Adventure, Edge made a sombre revelation , wherein he said that he will retire soon from professional wrestling. For Edge, life hasn’t particularly been easy. It has been full of ups and downs. Perhaps a highlight of his life was when he returned back to the squared circle of WWE in 2020 on the back of a successful neck injury, an injury that has caused tensions to simmer between both his family and fans.
But the wrestler made a strong comeback after 9 long years oozing confidence and sending out a message that nothing is impossible. Edge has already managed to put up some incredible matches since his return but he also in a recent interview revealed his year of retirement. Even though we all knew it had to happen someday, it is still difficult to imagine the world of sports wrestling without Edge and surely WWE will not remain the same without one of its biggest players.
How much time do we have left with Edge?
The fact that that edge is 48 years old cannot be neglected as it will definitely play its part on the superstar’s health and performance in the ring. Reading from his words, it seems that even the wrestler is aware of this: “(It) won’t be ten (years), definitely won’t be ten. I doubt it’ll be five. It’s gonna be before that. I don’t even think it’s going to be three. I don’t know. But I don’t think it’s going to be that long. I know the window is small.”
Edge also spoke about his return to the WWE, he said that even though he feels a lot fitter he knows that it won’t last for very long: “As I started feeling good and attacking life again, eight years later, nine years later, I started realizing that it was a possibility to come back and finally get that last three years and try and help young talent on the cusp, teach them a couple of little things.
To do it against a whole new era, to get in there with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and these guys that don’t need my help but it’s exciting to get in there with them and try to hang with them in this stage of my life and career. I know it’s not going to last for long and I only have so much in the tank to be able to do that. I want to get out before you start going, ‘his tank is getting low.’ I want to get out while people still have fond memories,” Edge concluded.
