Last November, WWE came up with a revamped gimmick for Shinsuke Nakamura akin to a wayward samurai. He returned on an episode of SmackDown, blindsided LA Knight, and took the US title off The Megastar at Survivor Series: WarGames. As of Sunday, the Japanese wrestler has hit 70 days with gold around his waist, noted Wrestle Features on X.

In the meantime, Shin made a single title defense against Knight. However, it was marred by Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga‘s uncalled interference, where they went right after the former Eli Drake. In a nutshell, Nakamura has yet to register a clean win since swindling his way to the top. Last weekend, he entered the Royal Rumble match but could only last 3:17 minutes.

The Artist’s crestfallen stock, coupled with a lack of any creative direction, has left the WWE Universe with no reason to care about the 2018 Royal Rumble winner. This past Friday on SmackDown, the former IWGP Champ was spotted eavesdropping on Cody Rhodes and The Miz during a backstage segment.

Whether it leads to something big or not needs to be seen. Triple H‘s vision for the current incarnation of the Kyoto-born wrestler started off strong. The WWE CCO was personally involved in mapping out Nakamura’s brand-new entrance music and presentation. However, with every passing week, things are heading toward a disaster.

With one title defense in over two months as the US Champion, the future’s all bleak. There’s no sign of SmackDown’s mid-card being featured in a prominent spot on next month’s Elimination Chamber PLE either. If the company eventually decides to do it anyway, a number of names, including Carmelo Hayes and Andrade, are waiting in the wings to dethrone Nakamura.

Fans lambast WWE’s booking of Shinsuke Nakamura’s US title reign

The fan consensus on Shinsuke Nakamura‘s shambolic treatment as the US Champion is all but laden with sardonic jabs. First off, the majority is incensed at WWE having LA Knight drop the belt to Shin when The Megastar was having a more significant run with it.

Some people are also pushing for Jimmy Uso to get his first singles title in WWE at the expense of Nakamura. A few of them seemed baffled over the fact that Logan Paul somehow managed to pull off a better reign with the US Championship, which included three defenses in 272 days.

Creative lead Triple H is also facing the wrath of the fans for his forgetting booking of the mid-card titles since Gunther‘s historic IC title reign. The netizens called for increased TV presence and title defenses for company’s present mid-card champions.
