Since 2013, the UFC has inducted its best and most iconic fights into its separate Hall of Fame wing. As such, WWE fans have been clamoring for something similar for years, demanding that the company’s best bouts be recognized. Well, the Stamford-based promotion has finally listened to its fans’ wishes, based on a historic announcement made on last night’s SmackDown.

During the broadcast, WWE revealed its first entry into the prestigious class this year. The No Disqualification Submission match between ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Bret Hart from WrestleMania 13 is set to enter the WWE Hall of Fame as an “Immortal Moment.” WWE put out a special package, revisiting the memorable bout and the significant ending. Furthermore, the promotion revealed both Austin and Hart would be in attendance for the ceremony.

This match marked a rare double turn. Following a brutal and chaotic battle, Hart placed Austin in the Sharpshooter. Instead of tapping out, The Rattlesnake passed out as his rival emerged victorious. Hart, who teased turning heel during the buildup, refused to let go. Meanwhile, Austin walked off as a hero as the Chicago crowd applauded his valiant effort on the night. As such, this match is considered one of the greatest WWE battles of all time.

Similar to previous editions, this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony will also take place during the WrestleMania weekend. Additionally, the ceremony will emanate from the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, which is the host city of the Showcase of the Immortals.

Triple H set to headline 2025 WWE Hall of Fame class

Other than the aforementioned WrestleMania 13 clash, fans will witness a number of legends taking their rightful place in this year’s Hall of Fame class. Headlining the 2025 class is none other than WWE CCO Triple H. This announcement came prior to the Royal Rumble at the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

During a Town Hall meeting, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker surprised their longtime friend with the induction. Caught off guard by the revelation, The Game jokingly said he would throw President Nick Khan off HQ before thanking everyone in attendance. This will mark Triple H’s second induction, having already joined the HOF in 2019 alongside D-Generation X.

The former WWE Champion would himself later surprise Undertaker by revealing that his wife, Michelle McCool, would also be inducted in this year’s class. Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes visited Lex Luger and revealed that he would take his rightful place as well. On this week’s episode of Raw, WWE announced that The Natural Disasters would join the 2025 class.

WWE planning on bringing in Sting for Hall of Fame ceremony

As is the case each year, the inductees’ close friends or family usually induct the legends into the Hall of Fame. This year, WWE has a difficult task in bringing in Lex Luger’s preferred candidate, Sting. The Icon is currently under AEW contract, presumably signed to a legends deal.

According to Fightful, WWE has already invited Sting to this year’s ceremony to do the honors for his longtime friend. However, the report noted that Stinger has relayed to those close to him that he might be unable to induct Luger due to his AEW contract.

WWE could work out an exchange deal to bring in the Stinger for the WrestleMania weekend. After all, the company had agreed on an exchange with TNA back in 2012. WWE had planned to induct The Four Horsemen at that year’s ceremony. However, Ric Flair was signed to TNA at that time.

As such, the Stamford-based promotion agreed on allowing Christian Cage to appear on TNA’s Slammiversary in exchange for The Nature Boy. It needs to be noted that Sting will be in Las Vegas for a WrestleCon fan signing during the WrestleMania 41 weekend. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether WWE and AEW can come to an agreement on a rare one-night deal.
