The first edition of this year’s Saturday Night’s Main Event turned out to be a successful one. Several WWE Hall of Famers were in attendance, including Jesse Ventura, who appeared on the show and offered commentary for the Intercontinental Championship match between Sheamus and Bron Breakker. As is the case with Ventura, he doesn’t hesitate to provide his unfiltered opinions. However, this almost backfired for WWE, as the company had to censor him during the telecast.
While listing some of the greatest Intercontinental Champions in history, Ventura labeled the likes of Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat as “WWF Superstars.” WWE quickly censored its previous name. For those unversed, the Stamford-based promotion was known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) for more than two decades. However, it was changed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2002.
The name change came after the company faced a legal battle with the World Wide Fund (WWF). Although Vince McMahon suggested otherwise, many believe it was due to the wrestling promotion losing the legal dispute. As such, Ventura’s massive blunder could’ve led to legal issues for the company.

The WWE legend made his second Saturday Night’s Main Event appearance. Last night, Jesse Ventura did not hesitate to call out the referee for counting slowly. In fact, he claimed that Sheamus lost to Breakker due to that reason only. Nonetheless, fans have enjoyed listening to the 73-year-old on commentary and hope to see more of him in the foreseeable future.
What else transpired at Saturday Night’s Main Event?
As mentioned, Saturday Night’s Main Event was an eventful night for WWE. The show kicked off with Rhea Ripley defending the Women’s World Championship against Nia Jax. In an Elimination Chamber rematch, Ripley overcame The Irresistible Force and emerged victorious.
In the second match, Breakker once again crushed Sheamus’ hopes of becoming Grand Slam Champion. The next segment featured the contract signing for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. Moderated by Shawn Michaels, things got out of control as HBK delivered a Sweet Chin Music to Kevin Owens.
Elsewhere, Jacob Fatu brutalized Braun Strowman after getting disqualified in their match. Fatu left Strowman in a bloody mess, sending chills down the spines of the WWE Universe. In the main event, Gunther defeated Jey Uso and retained his World Heavyweight Championship.
