WWE is reportedly contacting AEW wrestlers
WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon interested in AEW wrestlers

The battle between WWE and AEW for supremacy on Wednesday nights keeps getting fiercer. One of the main factors that will influence this battle, will be the wrestlers that represent the respective companies on TV. AEW has been successful in attracting some of the big names, who were previously associated with WWE. In fact, AEW’s Executive Vice President Cody Rhoades is himself a former WWE talent.

Stars like Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose), Chris Jericho and Miro (Rusev) are some of the former WWE wrestlers that have shifted their bases to All Elite Wrestling. A report from A Fightful Select has revealed that WWE is trying to get in touch with wrestlers who have performed at AEW Dark.

The wrestlers that appear on AEW Dark are mostly unsigned or contracted talents. The matches on Dark are treated as tryouts for the young and raw talents. If these talents impress the management on AEW Dark, they are provided with a bigger stage to showcase their talents. Usually, it is followed by full-time contracts.

Former WWE Stars at AEW

The report did not reveal the names of the wrestlers that WWE has tried to get in touch with. But there has been a mention that WWE is even trying to get in touch with the talents at NJPW Strong. In fact, one of the latest signings of WWE, Ben Carter, was also spotted on AEW Dark. His match received rave reviews and multiple promotions had tried to sign him. But Carter chose WWE and is supposed to join WWE’s NXT UK brand soon.

One of the other wrestlers from AEW Dark that WWE was interested in was Anthony Bowens. But unlike Carter, Bowens decided to sign with AEW. In an interview with PWInsider, President of AEW confirmed that Bowens had signed with the company. He along with Max Caster will be known as “The Acclaimed”.

While WWE has been focused on attracting the young talent from AEW Dark. AEW has been trying to woo the WWE wrestlers from the main roster. With both the companies trying to strengthen their roster, it would be interesting to see who would win the battle of viewership.
