John Cena is one of the biggest global personalities. In 2021, he got the opportunity to play one of the biggest roles of his Hollywood career. Often seen in raunchy comedies, the 16-time WWE World Champion got the opportunity to don a superhero costume for the first time in his acting career for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Cena was seen in a new light with this role. He played the role of a supervillain who will go to any extent for peace! But this wasn’t the only blockbuster role that he got last year. The Leader of Cenation also got a chance to be a part of another blockbuster ensemble. He was seen playing the role of Jakob Toretto in F9.

Among all these projects, John Cena took out time to return to WWE for a month. He feuded with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the buildup to a match at Summerslam. While fans loved him in the role, there is no doubt that his biggest project of the year was The Suicide Squad.

The fans loved John Cena as the Peacemaker so much that a new television series on his character was greenlit. The show too was directed by James Gunn. In an interview with Screenrant, Cena opened up about his experience working with the director.  

“I’ve never ever fought unprepared, ever. He is one of the most prepared and able to steer that ship. It’s one of the most imperative things I’ve ever seen, but also, he’s okay, like with talking about the impromptus, he’s okay pivoting. Like you pivoting and then coming back to the plan,” mentioned the Leader of Cenation.  

John Cena is nominated for Kids’ Choice Award

With two blockbusters to his name, nominations were bound to come for John Cena. He has been nominated for the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. He has been nominated for his role in F9. But he isn’t the only WWE Superstar who has been nominated. There are a couple of other Superstars who’ve been nominated in other categories.

  • The Rock nominated for Favorite Movie Actor award (for Red Notice & Jungle Cruise)
  • Sasha Banks nominated for Favorite Female Sports Star award
  • Xavier Woods nominated for Favorite Male Creator award
