John Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are two of the biggest WWE Superstars to have ever stepped inside the ring. Their WWE stints earned them global stardom, and today they are among the most recognized faces in the world. Both Cena and Rock have moved on from their careers in professional wrestling and gone on to have successful careers in Hollywood.

While The Rock has been one of the biggest stars in Hollywood  in the recent years, Cena was taking some time to find his footing in the industry. But 2021 turned out to be a landmark year in John Cena’s Hollywood career. He got the opportunity to be a part of two massive Hollywood franchisee this year.

Cena was seen in pivotal roles in Fast and Furious’ ninth instalment and DC’s The Suicide Squad. The Leader of Cenation also went on to get his own DC show – Peacemaker. The Rock on the other hand was seen in Disney’s Jungle Cruise this year. Both the Superstars have earned massive appreciation for their work this year and they are now in contention for 2021 People’s Choice awards.

NBC and E! recently revealed the nominees. The Rock has been nominated in several categories. Him and Cena, interestingly, are in contention for the Male Movie Star of the Year 2021. The Rock has also been nominated for several other categories:

  • Comedy Movie Star of the Year
  • Male TV star of the Year for Young Rock
  • Comedy TV star of the Year for Young Rock
  • Social Star of the Year

John Cena returned to WWE this year

John Cena has recently turned into a part-time WWE Superstar and makes sporadic appearances for the company. Earlier this year, he got a month off from his hectic Hollywood schedule and decided to return to WWE.

Cena made his return at WWE Money in the Bank and immediately kicked off a feud against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. After a month long feud, which led to some of the best promos in recent times, they collided at WWE Summerslam 2021. After a brutal bout Reigns emerged victorious. It was Cena’s final appearance on WWE TV, but he has promised the fans that he will be back soon.
