Veer Mahaan made his much-awaited WWE debut on the Raw after Wrestlemania and he straight away went after WWE legend Rey Mysterio and his Dominik. The following Monday on Raw, he squared off against Dominik in a singles match and squashed him brutally. Dominik is now said to be out of action for some time. However, the journey hasn’t been as easy as we all might think.
When he first showed up in WWE as Rinku Singh, he was merely 150 pounds and now, Veer Mahaan weighs 256 pounds. The journey, the efforts, and the hard work of Veer Mahaan are clearly depicted in this statistic.

Rinku Singh originally made news in 2008 after winning the Million Dollar Arm reality TV programme pitching competition, which saw him leave Gopiganj, Uttar Pradesh, for the United States. Subsequently, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he became the first Indian to play professional baseball. Rinku and another pitcher Dinesh Patel’s journey to the United States has been showcased in the 2014 film ‘Million Dollar Arm’ starring John Hamm (of Mad Men fame).
Rinku, who competes in the WWE under the ring name Veer Mahaan, was lately a guest on the Times of India’s Sportscast podcast, where he discussed his life path in great detail. Rinku has eight siblings, and his life has led him on a path that has seen him abandon his home and family at an early age. He is grateful, though, that he has been able to serve his family since a young age.
“It was tough in the beginning. I thought being a professional athlete everything was very easy and simple because we athletes pick up things very very easily. But as I got into the ring I realised that what a WWE superstar does in the ring, no other sport can be compared with it”, said Rinku.
Mahaan then continued by saying, “It’s been hard being away from my family since I was 17 years old, but I feel when you are trying to achieve greatness you have to sacrifice many things. And I feel that every time I have dedicated time to either baseball or WWE, it has always paid off big time. I may not be physically there for my family, but I am always there to support my family financially.”
