With speculations regarding Goldberg’s retirement match running high, the veteran revealed the biggest regret of his career. The incident in contention took place on December 23, 1999, on WCW Thunder. Goldberg broke the window of the nWo‘s brand new limousine with his bare hands. The move cost the multi-time champion heavily. Goldberg had to receive 199 stitches on his forearm after a massive injury. Reflecting on the incident, the former WCW champ said that he should have used a sledgehammer.

I wish I would have picked up the sledgehammer walking out the door at WCW to smash the limousine instead of using my hand.

The injury led to a huge setback to Goldberg’s career, as it halted all future planned storylines involving him till 2000. The Jackhammer was planned to get revenge on the nWo and win back the WCW Championship. However, Goldberg acknowledged that the mistake made him a better person, and he has tried to learn from it since then.

Goldberg confirmed his retirement match in 2025

Since the showdown, the WWE Universe has touted Gunther’s name as Goldberg’s final opponent. However, the former is currently engaged in a high-stakes rivalry with Jey Uso. The Royal Rumble 2025 winner will challenge The Ring General at WrestleMania 40 for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Goldberg says he will support son’s wrestling plans

The WWE Hall of Famer has expressed his desire to support his son Gage‘s wrestling ambition. During an interview with Ariel Helwani, Goldberg stated that as long as his son Gage is fully committed and passionate about wrestling, he would be behind him 100%. Emphasizing the importance of hard work and dedication, the legend said that wrestling, much like any other profession, required the above traits to be successful.

The former WWE Universal Champion claimed that Gage could do whatever he wanted to do, provided that he 120% dedication on it. He said that people wanted things for free but did not respect the work required to be put behind it. Goldberg added that his son was free to opt any field he wanted to pursue except any illegal activity.

He can do anything he wants…You gotta work for it. I’d support him in anything he does, short of being a crack dealer or something. If the kid loves it, then he can do it. I’m completely behind it.

Goldberg himself was a football player, but his NFL career didn’t go as planned. The Hall of Famer’s son Gage has made several TV appearances since 2017 and even engaged in a physical segment with Bobby Lashley. However, only time will tell if his son laces up his boots to continue the legacy left by the veteran wrestler.
