Many fans see Randy Orton as the quintessential WWE Superstar. However, The Viper wasn’t shy about admitting that he auditioned for roles in many movies. One of those roles was playing Cable in Deadpool 2. The 44-year-old legend opened up about it during a conversation with his close friend and the current Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
In the latest episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? Cody Rhodes sat down with Randy Orton. They discussed a range of topics, including their history and subjects beyond WWE and wrestling. The 14-time world champion talked about how he has dedicated over 20 years of his life to WWE. Although Orton admitted to auditioning for various roles, he specifically mentioned Cable from Deadpool 2.
Orton felt confident that he would land the role of Cable, but unfortunately, Josh Brolin was cast instead. The Hollywood star gained more fame thanks to his role as Thanos in the Avengers franchise. After that rejection, The Legend Killer quickly realized that WWE was his life and that he would stay in the business forever.
I do auditions here and there. I read for Cable, and in my head, boy, I was gonna be Cable. Nope, no callback, no nothing. You know, Josh Brolin gets it. Of course, Josh Brolin gets it. And I think I kind of realized then okay, so I can send in this auditions, but I'm a pro wrestler.Randy Orton via What Do You Wanna Talk About?
The former Legacy leader will have a chance to add another title to his list at the Bash in Berlin PLE. He will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship in his home country, earning a rematch due to a controversial finish in their match in Saudi Arabia. Although Orton gained the upper hand by hitting an RKO on The Ring General in the latest episode of Raw, he’ll have his work cut out for him in almost two weeks.
Randy Orton expressed his desire to be inducted into the Hall of Fame by John Cena
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Randy Orton will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer whenever he retires. The only question is who will induct him into the Hall of Fame. There were many candidates in his mind, but The Viper chose John Cena, whom he believed would excel in the role.
While speaking with Rhodes, Orton was asked who he would choose to induct him into the Hall of Fame. Although the 14-time world champion mentioned Ric Flair and Triple H, he ultimately chose his bitter rival and best friend. At first, he hesitated to mention Cena’s name, worried that he might feel obligated. However, The Viper knew that only the 47-year-old legend could do the job better than anyone else.
I almost don't even want to say because I feel like he'd hear this and then feel obligated, but maybe John. There's a few reasons, selfishly, because I know that he would knock it out of the park. I know John could do me better justice than just about anybody because John's John.Randy Orton on John Cena via What Do You Wanna Talk About?
The Orton-Cena rivalry is regarded as one of the greatest in WWE. They are two of the most decorated wrestling personalities, with multiple titles to their names. While The Doctor of Thuganomics sits at the top of the list with 16 world titles, Orton is just two short with 14. Both began their wrestling journeys together on the main roster in 2002 and rose to legendary status side by side.
