Another international PLE denied as WWE locks down new city for Survivor Series 2025: Reports
The company will present its 39th annual Survivor Series event somewhere later this year. A new report has hinted at the potential host.

Though a date is not official yet, the Survivor Series PLE of this year has an expected host city. Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the four-decade-old tradition is headed to San Diego. If true, it’d mark the first time America’s Finest City hosted the namesake WWE event. Since its inception, Survivor Series has been colloquially deemed a “Big 4” WWE show.
It’s no secret that the general perception concerning the 1987-debuted event has been quite flickering in recent years. While a big chunk of fans continue viewing it in the same echelon as WrestleMania(s), Royal Rumble(s), and SummerSlam(s), others believe Survivor Series has dropped down to being a second fiddle to those three spectacles.
Survivor Series was for a while synonymous with brand supremacy. Superstars from Raw and SmackDown would join forces for one night only to assert the dominance of their respective rosters. The concept had run its course, and fans started clamoring for a change.
San Diego is expected internally to be the host city of WWE Survivor Series, barring a change, https://t.co/jy8u4a7WDa has learned.

In 2022, the event got rebranded to Survivor Series: WarGames. A brainchild of late, great WWE HOF’er Dusty Rhodes, the gimmick match initially saw the light of day in Jim Crockett Promotions of NWA. It was in the same year when Survivor Series was born—1987.
Before its main roster debut, WWE ran WarGames matches in NXT. However, the concept did wonders for Survivor Series, which had remotely been considered moribund by the onset of this decade. WWE CCO Triple H could be credited for bringing about this change, which the fans welcomed with fervor.
How does WWE’s upcoming international line-up look like?
WWE is a machine that never stops running. It’s something Triple H often alludes to. The Stamford-based promotion has been on a mission to explore untapped international wrestling markets to expand their reach. Acting upon those lines, the company has a number of non-US premium live events lined up for the months to come.

After an overwhelming response to Backlash in France last year, WWE is going back-to-back. But this time around, the event will be labeled as Clash in Paris. It’ll emanate from Paris La Défense Arena on August 31. Moreover, next year’s Royal Rumble will be the first in history to be held in Saudi Arabia. On top of that, WWE is expected to visit the Middle Eastern country twice in 2025.
🚨 The road to WrestleMania 41 shows will include TV dates for Europe in March 2025:
— Wrestle Ops (@WrestleOps) November 3, 2024
• SmackDown — March 14th — Barcelona, Spain
• Live Event — March 15th — Dortmund, Germany
• Live Event — March 16th — Hannover, Germany
• RAW — March 17th — Brussels, Belgium
• SmackDown —…
An upcoming WWE event from Saudi can be expected in June/July. That’ll leave the room for one more at the tail end of the ongoing year. At present, WWE is amidst a three-week tour in Europe. The unprecedented deal will see a number of Raw and SmackDown tapings in Spain, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Scotland, and England. The blue brand’s latest visit to Barcelona was well received among the fans.
JD McDonagh recalls scary RKO bump from Survivor Series: Wargames 2023
The 2023 edition of Survivor Series will be remembered for ages. Of course, it was where CM Punk made his long-awaited WWE return after unceremoniously walking out of the company in 2014. Apart from that, Randy Orton also returned from a career-threatening back injury.

He joined the team of Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn to battle The OG Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre. The ending of the men’s WarGames bout saw Orton super-RKO JD McDonagh, followed by Rhodes planting Damian Priest with a Cross Rhodes for the win. But the penultimate sequence stood out.

Diving into it, McDonagh recently told Chris Van Vliet that it was his idea. The Irish Ace had originally pitched doing a moonsault off the cage, but the management rejected it, citing Charlotte Flair had already locked it down. The Judgment Day member reluctantly disclosed that he and Orton had rehearsed the spot beforehand to nail it at the PLE.
