There has been some significant rumblings about Tony Khan and Shahid Khan being the potential buyers of WWE. For what it’s worth, many doesn’t believe that as a real-case scenario. With global juggernauts like Comcast, Endeavor and Saudi Arabia’s PIF in the hunt to acquire WWE, former’s case doesn’t have much credibility.
Scrapping down the speculations of The Khans buying WWE, Eric Bischoff believes both companies operate differently. Well, it’s quite evident that AEW usually caters to a niche audience, WWE on the other hand, serves a vast audience. They’re more inclined towards serving the purpose of Sports Entertainment. The Stamford-based promotion is on a different level than All Elite Wrestling.
Iterating the same theory on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff believes buying WWE is a giant move. Citing the never say never catchphrase of pro-wrestling, the former WCW Executive Chairman stated nothing is impossible. However, he openly questioned the infrastructure and knowledge of Tony Khan to actually handle a multi-billion business of WWE.
“Acquiring WWE is, that’s a big, giant move. I don’t see it. Now, could it happen? Sure, anything is possible. But if you really think about it, does the Khan enterprise have the experience, knowledge, infrastructure, ability to run a company as complex as WWE? … They may be in the same business, but they don’t live and play in the same universe.”
