Big E has been out of action for about a whole year. After declaring that he was unsure whether he would return again, things might be looking in favour of the big man this year.
Big E suffered a neck injury last year, on March 11th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, in a tag team match with Sheamus and Ridge Holland. Ridge Holland hit Big E with a Belly to Belly suplex, and Big E ended up landing on his head. Shortly afterwards, the New Day member announced that he injured his C1 and C6 vertebrae. Although he shared a positive update afterwards, saying that he was expected to make a full recovery, Big E also said that he was unsure if he would ever wrestle again. According to the doctors, if he suffered an injury around the neck again, the results would be catastrophic. However this year, things are looking better for the big man. With that said, here’s three reasons why Big E might make his long-awaited return to WWE sooner than expected:

3. Kofi Kingston’s Cryptic Tweet
Although it may not seem like much, Kofi might be hinting towards the much-awaited reunion of The New Day. It’s to be noted that Kingston and Big E are both sidelined due to injuries at the moment.
Big E has been out for almost a full year now due to a neck injury and Kofi Kingston recently suffered an ankle injury in March on SmackDown. Kofi was then sidelined and The New Day’s potential plans for a reunion at The Showcase Of The Immortals were scrapped. The New Day members didn’t have much luck in the past few years due to injuries. Even Xavier Woods suffered a leg injury sometime in 2022. However, Kofi’s cryptic message on Twitter may hint towards the possibility of the long-awaited reunion of The New Day.
2. Big E is more frequent in interviews
The New Day member is looking in much better shape than he was before. He is much more active in interviews, with the most recent one being where he talked about how he was not entirely satisfied with his WWE Championship reign.
Big E won the championship when he cashed in his Money In The Bank contract and defeated Bobby Lashley. He held on to the title for 110 days until he eventually lost it to Brock Lesnar. He talks about how he was grateful for the opportunity to win the WWE Championship, but he felt like his title run wasn’t the best and that he could have done more.
1. Vince McMahon’s return to WWE
Vince McMahon returned to WWE this January after his “retirement” in 2022. At that time, he wasn’t involved with the creative aspects of WWE. But after this week’s RAW, it is clear that Vince is now in charge of the creative aspects of WWE as well. With his return, a lot of plans have undergone massive change.
Now, as to why his return indicates the return of Big E lies in the fact that The New Day were apparently supposed to reunite at WrestleMania. This was reported a few months ago, but after Kofi’s injury, all plans were scrapped. However, now might be a good time to bring in the New Day. Fans are reportedly not happy with Vince coming back, and bringing back one of the fan-favourite teams might help the case. It is also to be noted that Big E once said that he and Vince were on good terms. So a return might not be entirely out of the picture.
Even if The New Day does return soon, it might not be wise to have them compete right away. They can spend a few weeks doing what they do best- entertain the WWE Universe. What do you think? Would you like The New Day to return?
