The WWE Hall of Famer and legend Abdullah The Butcher is actually scheduled to wrestle in AIW, in Ohio, about a month from now. Abdullah is currently 82 years old, which begs the question: Why is an 82-year-old man still wrestling?

It all goes back to 2014, when Larry Shreve, aka Abdullah The Butcher, lost a $2.3 million lawsuit against Devon “Hannibal” Nicholson. Nicholson sued the WWE legend, claiming that Shreve gave him Hepatitis C during their match. The 82-year-old legend talks about how he has been “ripped off” and blames his illiteracy for his loss.

Abdullah’s struggles began when in 2014, Devon Nicholson, a wrestler, and a promoter, filed a lawsuit against him. Devon filed charges against the WWE Legend for contracting Hepatitis C from him during their match. He claims that both he and Abdullah were cut by the same knife in their match. As a result, Devon contracted Hepatitis C.

He provided further evidence, which showed that both he and Abdullah had a rare Genotype 2 strain of Hepatitis C. Devon claimed that WWE wouldn’t hire him due to his health. After winning the lawsuit, Devon claimed that he has been trying to sue Abdullah for years, all the while when he was accused of being a liar by the WWE legend.

“For the past four years, I’ve been called a liar by Mr. Shreve publicly, and obviously that really bothers me, because not only did he lie about saying that he didn’t cut me, but he lied about not having hepatitis C, which he did have and it wasn’t really able to come out publicly until now. I’m happy that everyone finally knows basically that what I was saying was true”.

Devon proclaimed that Hep-C was a nightmare for him. The treatments led to him losing a lot of weight and he had almost no energy left. One thing he was proud of, was the fact that he stopped Abdullah from wrestling. He hasn’t stepped into the squared circle ever since the news was made public.

After losing the $2.3 million lawsuit, Abdullah claimed that he was broke. Prior to the lawsuit, he had two restaurants, both of which he ended up losing after the lawsuit.

The WWE legend blamed his inability to read or write for his loss. He said that when his sister called him from Canada, breaking to him the news of his loss at the lawsuit, he was surprised, asking “What lawsuit?”. Apparently, Abdullah even had to sell his WWE Hall Of Fame ring for money. “You got a lot of people who try to take in my opinion, I’ve been ripped off so bad it’s unbelievable, and I’m still getting ripped off,” said Abdullah.
