The year 2023 has been the most beneficial year for the company in decades. Overall the professional wrestling scenario has experienced a boom due to WWE’s success in Triple H‘s creative reign. As such, this success has improved WWE’s market value leading to more brand collaborations. Current reports suggest WWE has reached an agreement with the NHL for licensed title belts.
According to WrestleVotes, the NHL will follow the path of the NFL by producing inspired championships. The belts will display the official colors and branding of the NHL teams. The report even suggested that the titles will be out for sale in the new year.
In August 2023, WWE and the NFL agreed to release a commemorative championship. A few months later, they even signed with the Big 12 Conference as their stock for college football was high in the latter half of the year. The same would be repeated with the NHL and benefit both companies. CM Punk, who readily supports the Chicago Blackhawks might play a huge role in its promotion.
I’m told the WWE & NHL have a deal in place for the same. Expect NHL championships titles to be available thru Fanatics sometime in the new year.WrestleVotes on WWE-NHL championship belt agreement
WWE’s CEO Nick Khan has been praised for his business strategies and the profits he has brought to the promotion. This NFL agreement would make a huge mark on the American sports industry. The crossover between WWE and other sports will prove to be a huge draw.
Did Tony Khan’s ownership affect the Jacksonville Jaguars WWE-NFL title belt?
In August 2023, WWE announced its partnership with the NFL to produce custom championship belts. Each of the existing 32 teams got a commemorative title to ensure their deal. But AEW CEO Tony Khan owned, Jacksonville Jaguars felt the effect of WWE’s partnership.
As the belts went on pre-sale right after their deal, Jaguars’ belt was not readily available to be sold. The speculation stated that WWE had done it intentionally to disallow Khan’s promotion. But later, it was revealed by the Fanatics team that the titles had sold out as soon as they were put on sale.
The belt, worth $549.99, was reportedly sold out in a few hours of its pre-sale release. The fans even questioned this statement from the sellers and doubted its certainty. As of now, in December 2023, the championship is not available for sale.
