“There’s no difference”- Alberto Del Rio is skeptical of WWE’s current number of championships

Alberto Del Rio in WWE

Alberto Del Rio was a prominent figure during his time in the WWE. Within a year of making his WWE debut, Alberto Del Rio won the Royal Rumble in 2011, and he quickly cemented his position as the top card. Alberto Del Rio is regarded as one of the finest heels of this generation. In 2013, he briefly served as a babyface before switching back to the other side at Payback. People had a good reason to despise Alberto Del Rio since he was a natural villain.

Alberto Del Rio had a successful WWE career, winning all of the company’s main championships, including the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. He has also won the MITB Ladder match in addition to the Royal Rumble. The Intercontinental Championship was the only one Del Rio did not win. He would have won the championship and been the Grand Slam Champion if he had continued with the company.

Alberto Del Rio says that there is no distinction if the company features 25–40 championships

During a recent interview with Wrasslinews, Alberto Del Rio has criticised the WWE’s reported surplus of championships. Del Rio said that when he was a part of the WWE, there were only three championships available: the World Heavyweight, Tag Team, and WWE Championships. This, according to Del Rio, demonstrates what it means to be a champion to both the public and the champion himself.

According to Alberto Del Rio, if the company features 25–40 championships, then there is no distinction between them, and changing the name is irrelevant. He said that he doesn’t like the fact that there are 25 people wearing something around their waist.

“I love the way it was in WWE when we only had the Tag Team Champions, the female title, the World Heavyweight title, and the WWE title and that was it. That tells people what it means to be a champion and for the champion, it means something. When you have that title around your waist, it means something… But if there’s like another 25-40 titles in the company, there’s no difference between one and the other. It doesn’t matter if you change the name… You see in the same TV show 25 people wearing something around their waist.”

Alberto Del Rio has stated his ambition to win the WWE Championship once more. Last year, Alberto Del Rio stated that if the WWE gave him the chance to once again be a part of the company, he would undoubtedly become a champion since he is known to have been amassing championships.
