“That was going to be the big story”- Former WWE writer Vince Russo reveals that WWE has some major plans with Alexa Bliss’ gimmick

Alexa Bliss in WWE

Alexa Bliss has been a part of the WWE for 9 years now and has almost achieved everything in the company. Bliss had no prior experience in wrestling before entering WWE in 2013 and was sent to WWE’s developmental territory NXT after her signing. Alexa made her first televised appearance in July 2013, when she congratulated the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion Paige. She made her in-ring debut in May 2014 when she competed in the tournament for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship. She reached to the Semifinals but was defeated by Charlotte Flair. Bliss wrestled at NXT until August 2016 and thereafter made her main roster debut.

Alexa Bliss made her main roster debut in 2016 on SmackDown Brand and in December the same year she became the SmackDown Women’s Champion by defeating Becky Lynch at the TLC Live event. Alexa won the RAW Women’s Championship in at the 2017 Payback, when she defeated Bayley to win the title and became the first woman to have held women’s Championship from both Brands. In addition to being a Money in the Bank winner, Alexa has won the SmackDown Women’s Championship 2 times and RAW Women’s Championship 3 times in her WWE career.

Alexa Bliss debuted with her supernatural gimmick in 2020

In 2020, Alexa Bliss debuted a new “supernatural” persona. Alexa performed the part admirably and very well, giving it her all and demonstrating her acting skills, which are considerably superior to those of the majority of women working in the industry today since few could have carried it off as effectively. She even faced Randy Orton in an intergender match at Fastlane 2021 and was successful in defeating the Viper with the help of the returning Bray Wyatt.

Teaming up with Bray Wyatt, Alexa’s character appeared promising at first, but the spark gradually faded, especially following Bray Wyatt’s departure from the company. At WrestleMania 37, Bliss distracted “The Fiend” and cost him his match against Randy Orton. Alexa had asserted that she no longer needed the fiend and introduced her new friend a doll named “Lilly”. This garnered her negative reaction and the gimmick has elicited unfavorable comments from the majority of fans, and it can be acceptable because many aspects of it were absurd.

The departure of “The Fiend” from the organization raises the question of whether it will have a long-term detrimental effect on Bliss’ WWE career as she is no longer seen the main event player that she was in the past.

While Alexa Bliss’ fans are concerned about her career, Former WWE Writer Vince Russo feels that WWE has some major plans regarding Alexa Bliss’ gimmick. Vince made an appearance on RAW’s Sportskeeda Wrestling Legion and stated that someone was intended to steal Alexa’s doll Lilly and that it would be a major story. Vince predicted that Lilly will be stolen next week.

“Supposedly earlier in the day Chris, the story was, somebody was supposed to steal Alexa Bliss’ doll and that was going to be the big story. So they will probably do that next week, somebody is going to steal Lilly.”

This week on RAW, Bliss paired with Asuka in a tag team match against Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. and defeated them successfully.
