WWE has several superstars out of in-ring action due to several reasons. While many are out for personal reasons, others are out because of an injury. One such name is Apollo Crews. He was last seen in a Slim-Jim battle royale at WWE SummerSlam on August 5th, 2023. He recently made his surprise return on WWE Main Event in a match against Ludwig Kaiser.
Former WWE United States Champion Apollo Crews made his return on the November 6th tapings of Main Event, which aired on November 9th. Unfortunately, his return was not that great, as he lost the match against the Imperium member.
In his post on Instagram, Crews went on to explain the reason for his absence. He revealed that he was suffering from an injury, and now he feels great to be back in the ring. However, Crews didn’t share the cause and nature of his injury. WWE also kept details about his injury under the covers, with no explanation for his sudden absence.
Had a little injury that kept me out for a few months. Felt great being back in the ring. ?Apollo Crews wrote on Instagram
This week’s Main Event was taped in Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It felt like a show, with several bright spots. Apart from seeing Ludwig Kaiser defeat Apollo Crews, they also saw Veer Mahaan and Sanga with Jinder Mahal, conquering Noam Dar and Oro Mensah of the Meta-Four.
Why did Apollo Crews go to NXT?
WWE Universe witnessed the return of Apollo Crews last year. Since then, he has been making waves with several big names in NXT, like Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and many others. Earlier this year, on the Out-of-Character Podcast with Ryan Satin, Crews revealed why he went back to his roots after being on the main roster for several years.
I want to be one of those guys here that's a household name, right? So I approached and asked if there was any spot down here essentially for me at NXT and the opportunity came about and it happened.Apollo Crews on Out-of-Character podcast
Without a doubt, Apollo delivered several matches worth “this is awesome chants”. It seems that Apollo was searching for a way to revitalize his career. That move was going back to NXT. Additionally, Crews also revealed that WWE officials also asked him what kind of run he wanted on the Yellow brand. Apollo, on the other hand, was glad for the trajectory-changing opportunity for his career.
