WWE superstar Asuka has been one of the most prominent names in the company. The 41-year-old has had an illustrious career in the world of pro wrestling. Asuka recently lost her WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam against Bianca Belair, who subsequently lost to Iyo Sky. She posted a picture on X, contemplating her future with the company.
Asuka wrote the caption, “What am I gonna do!” leaving fans baffled. As a result, the WWE Universe is speculating that this is a tease about her potential departure from WWE. However, it might also be a subtle hint towards her new gimmick. In the picture, she was seen in melancholy, and her caption personifies that.
At SummerSlam, Asuka defended her WWE Women’s Championship in a triple threat match against Charlotte and Bianca Belair. The Empress of Tomorrow dropped her title in the match in a surprising fashion. Following her loss at SummerSlam, Asuka was booked in a match against Flair this week on SmackDown.
Her recent championship run has been lamentable on the main roster due to her poor bookings. As a result, fans also started losing interest from the Empress of Tomorrow. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the 41-year-old now that she has lost her championship.
Possible direction for Asuka after dropping the WWE Women’s Championship
The Empress of Tomorrow has almost achieved everything in her WWE run. However, the golden dust of Asuka has been fading lately. She recently lost her Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. Her possible direction after this defeat looks vague as of now.
She might go back to NXT to have one more run on the Black and Gold brand. As WWE is considering NXT as one of its main brands, this does not look implausible. Asuka was a dominating Women’s Champion in NXT. However, due to a collarbone injury, she had to relinquish her championship back then. Therefore, she might actually return to the brand to reclaim her title.
Another possible direction for Asuka on the main roster is to become a part of a faction. WWE is focusing on factions lately, and The Bloodline and the Judgment Day are prime examples. An association with a faction can benefit the 41-year-old. It will be interesting to see where Asuka heads in the coming weeks on the main roster.
