For the first time in over five years, Baron Corbin finally resurrected his inner demons as he brought back his “Lone Wolf” persona. Fans have been clamoring for this change for a very long time. And it was worth their wait when WWE finally brought back the absolute best version of Corbin. He had quite a career-altering outing this week on NXT: Gold Rush.

He was scheduled to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship. Once in the ring, King Melo wouldn’t have expected his challenger to reconcile with his past and come out with his iconic Lone Wolf theme. Right from his mannerisms to his in-ring attributes, Baron Corbin was something else last night. It’s really baffling how a subtle change in character and presentation can skyrocket any wrestler.

These men delivered one of the best, if not the best, matches of the year thus far. In fact, this was Corbin’s best showdown in terms of work rate. He inched really close to pulling off an upset to capture the gold. However, Melo kept his composure and ensured that the NXT title stayed with him for the time being. Even after enduring a violent Finn Balor in his debut match on Raw this week, Carmelo prevailed.

Despite losing the match, Baron Corbin won. He’s back to his serious ways, probably more detrimental than ever before. If WWE somehow manages to grow his long hair back once again, that would be a home run. For now, the fans are rejoicing over Corbin’s rejuvenation. His complete entrance from NXT last night can be watched below.

Baron Corbin failed miserably with the Happy Corbin character

Over the years, WWE and Vince McMahon have tried a lot with Baron Corbin. Instead of increasing his value, the endless character changes absolutely destroyed Corbin’s momentum. No one was able to take him seriously anymore. A sigh of relief came when Baron portrayed a “broken man” gimmick. Fans started to amass sympathy for him, and the interest was back. “

However, for some reason, Vince scrapped that too early. The story kept repeating itself. Also, earlier this year, WWE called JBL to manage Corbin. There was a little hope that maybe Bradshaw would bring something out of the former Golden Gloves Champion. But after lasting for a few months, this pairing didn’t work out either.

It’s fair enough to say that WWE fumbled the ball with Corbin the day they shaved off his hair. It went completely downhill from there. Now that they’ve brought back the Lone Wolf, it’s the perfect opportunity to capitalize. Surely, this is going to be a make-or-break scenario for the Kansas City superstar.
