Former WWE champion, Batista (or Dave Bautista) is currently enjoying his hollywood career as a successful actor, but today’s a very special landmark feat in the career of ‘The Animal’.
20 years ago today in WWE history, The Animal “Batista” made his debut on Smackdown alongside the reverend D-Von Dudley. He later went on to become a 6-time WWE champion having being held the World Heavyweight Title 4 times and the WWE Championship 2 times. He had a 282 day long run as the World Heavyweight champion in his first reign which was the longest for that title.
Dave is also a 2-time Royal Rumble match winner where he held the honour to be a part of the main-event of Wrestlemania back in 2005 where he faced The Undertaker in a losing attempt and nearly 8 years ago at Wrestlemania 30, where he was involved in a triple-threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship alongside Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan, but he lost that too Apart from this Batista is also a 3-time Tag Team Champion. His seeds to become a superstar in WWE were planted long ago while he was in the stable known as The Evolution (headed by Ric Flair, Triple H and Randy Orton).
All of the four men collectively were the definition of a dominating force who would go onto destroy his opponents. Ever since wrestling his retirement match against his former mentor, Triple H at Wrestlemania 35, he’s not been there on WWE television.
Today marks exactly the same date when Batista debuted in WWE. So to honour the Hall of Fame worthy career of The Animal, several WWE Superstars have penciled in some appreciative tweets remembering their time with him in the company.
