Former Women’s Champion keeps Shield’s legacy alive through unique tribute

Without a doubt, The Shield is one of the most dominant factions in WWE history. The trio consisting of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose (now known as Jon Moxley) created a lot of memories during their two-year run. More than a decade later, Bayley has decided to pay tribute to the stable. However, she has done it in her unique way.

The former Women’s Champion posted an interesting story on her Instagram account. In the picture, Bayley is standing alongside supposedly three fans dressed up in Shield costumes. Instead of posing with the faction’s iconic fist bump, the Role Model and the fans perform the Damage CTRL thumbs-down taunt. She is the current ‘leader’ of the group, which also consists of Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky.

It seems more likely that Bayley mocked The Shield. Moreover, she sent a message to point out that Damage CTRL is the better faction of the two. At the moment, the trio is part of the SmackDown brand, with Bayley acting as a second fiddle to the Women’s Champion, Iyo Sky. You can check out Bayley’s ‘tribute’ here:

Meanwhile, all three members of the Shield have gone on to become multiple-time World Champions since splitting. Recently, Rollins, Moxley, and Reigns topped the PWI 500 list of the best wrestlers in the world. Therefore, they are staking their claim as the top superstars in professional wrestling right now.

Why The Shield is one of the best factions of all time?

At Survivor Series 2012, three youngsters from the developmental brand NXT arrived on the main roster. Most notably, the trio consisting of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose marched down to the ring and attacked the biggest name in the WWE, John Cena. As a result, The Shield proved from their debut that they were different as compared to other call-ups.

First, the stable went on to have an impressive six-month undefeated streak. Moreover, they defeated the best superstars at the time, including Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton. During the period, all three members of The Shield held championship gold, further dominating the main roster.

In the last stretches of their run, the faction competed in the most enthralling matches of the year. The Shield feuded against The Wyatt Family and Evolution, defeating the latter in their final bout. While they would go on their separate paths, the legacy left by The Shield is everlasting.
