Former WWE Superstar Big Show warned Floyd Mayweather to run away from the building after legitimately busting his nose
Big Show and Floyd Mayweather faced off in a marquee match at WrestleMania 24, proving to be a financial success for the WWE.
Floyd Mayweather and Big Show
Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest attractions in combat sports history. So, when he was brought to the WWE to face the Big Show at WrestleMania 24, there was a lot of buzz and talk around the world. In the buildup to the battle, there was a lot of bad blood between both men.
In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Big Show revealed that he once told the undefeated boxer to run away from the building. This was before their confrontation at the No Way Out 2008 event. “The World’s Largest Athlete” told Mayweather to break his nose for real during their segment. He further warned Floyd to flee as soon as the latter punched Show. He said, “I told [Floyd], ‘hey when you do this, run, because I’m half-nuts so if I get my hands on you..”
The boxing legend heeded Big Show’s advice by being escorted straight out of the arena by his entourage. The former WWE superstar remembers Shane McMahon calming him down as he was the first on scene. Shane told the Giant, “You ok? That was awesome!” It was then that the 58-year-old legend knew they had done something special.
The mentioned match was a success, as it helped that year’s WrestleMania break several gates and records. It was well received among the WWE Universe and critics around the world. Big Show is currently signed to a rival promotion, AEW, after leaving the company in 2021. While Floyd retired from professional boxing in 2017.
Big Show names John Cena as the strongest superstar he has faced
Big Show has been active in the wrestling business for almost 30 years. He has worked for different companies throughout his career, including WWE, WCW and AEW. During this time, the Giant has come up against several tough opponents in the ring.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Big Show was asked who his strongest opponent was in the ring. The WWE legend didn’t hesitate and instantly picked John Cena. He justified himself by saying, “As far as people picking me up, nobody’s like John. Cena picks you up it’s like you’re standing on concrete.” The Cenation Leader was further termed a “machine,” gaining admiration from his old colleague.
John Cena has faced Big Show on numerous occasions in his career. He used to lift the Giant on his shoulders for his finishing maneuver, the Attitude Adjustment, with ease. The best example is the triple-threat match at WrestleMania 25, where he lifted both Big Show and Edge at once during the bout. It is a testament to the strength and physicality maintained by John.
