“WWE Is Going Back To Business”, Booker T Hopes To See Compelling Stories As RAW Goes TV-14
WWE is probably the biggest wrestling company in the world today. The entertainment company that started off as Titan Sports Inc. in the 1980s has come a long way since then. And with time the company has evolved in its structure, its policy, and its content as well. Starting with an edgier Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era, the company transformed itself into a PG product after 2008 making it more suitable for family viewing. But, as per the latest reports, the company is now moving back to a TV-14 programming format for its flagship show Monday Night Raw.
According to the TV-14 format, programs rated TV-14 can have suggestive dialogue, coarse language, violence, and sexual content as well. While the fans are excited about this transition, various superstars and Hall of Famers also cannot keep calm as they’ve also reacted to the move. Earlier this week Cody Rhodes tweeted a blinking eye emoji, and now WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has spoken about what he expects of the transition.
Booker T Hopes Better Creative Programming as WWE Plans To Go TV-14
While Speaking on the Hall Of Fame show, Booker T said he hopes to see more compelling storylines and better programming. The Hall of Famer said- “I think it’s everybody that does that leg slap is going to get fired [laughs]. At least, that’s what I hope it means. I hope it means we get back to business and go out and start telling some compelling stories. The thing is, I say this because when I was in WCW – and people may think it was a 100 years ago, but it wasn’t that long ago – I was watching those guys in WWE go out and fricking fight.”
He also said that the transition should be used sensibly and mere colorful language cannot save the product. Though the transition has not been officially confirmed by the company, observers do believe that it is on the cards. According to reports, a memo has already been issued to the creatives and officials prematurely. However, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer says that Fans shouldn’t expect the return of the Attitude Era and it is likely that WWE won’t show blood on TV either. Now, amid all the speculations it would be interesting to see how WWE evolves its content owing to the transition.
