Bret Hart warned a WWE legend to stop chopping him (via- Wikipedia)
If there’s anything called an in-ring technical prowess, Bret Hart is the epitome of it. Throughout his legendary wrestling career, the Canadian great was obsessed with perfection. Whenever he got into that squared circle with someone, Hart used to test him to the core. Of course, The Hitman had multiple rivals with whom he delivered in-ring classics. However, outside of just the matches, he had interesting tuning with a few.
Not that long ago, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed his rivalry with Ric Flair. The two had faced each other on numerous occasions during the 1990s. Although, Bret Hart never backed down from having physicality during his matches, he did become skeptical of Flair’s chops after a while. Those who’ve suffered the wrath of having their chests turn bloody know what it takes to shed some flesh.
Therefore, Bret Hart once told Ric Flair in private to stop using his brutal chops against him. Flair was reluctant at first, telling The Hitman he couldn’t stop using his signature maneuver. But the Hearthrob was in a game of his own and warned Flair against it. He told The Nature Boy to either stop chopping him or stay ready to get punched in the face. Well, that’s what prompted the 16-time World Champion to never chop Bret Hart ever again.
Apart from that, Bret didn’t always remain quite appreciative of Ric Flair’s work. The former recalled how, after he captured the World Championship, his match quality against Flair declined abruptly. He even complained Vince McMahon about Flair sabotaging their matches. However, after talking to Ric, the Excellence of Execution learned that Flair was facing some personal issues at the time.
Why Bret Hart hates the current state of wrestling?

Bret Hart remains one of the most respected names in this industry. His opinions are valued till date and not many can argue over that. However, one of his infamous takes concern the present state of wrestling. According to him, it’s pathetic and too phony to watch the ongoing product. While speaking on the HN Live YouTube Channel, Hart expressed his disdain over what makes him roll his eyes watching today’s wrestling.
First of all, he rebuffed at unnecessary stunts. To his point, the spot where superstars form a crowd outside of the ring just to get laid out by their counterparts diving over them, aches the Hall of Famer. Also, he then criticized the over usage of leg-slaps by almost every wrestler, be it in WWE or AEW. The wrestlers from the past never used such tricks to amplify their moves.
Bret Hart’s last WWE appearance came in 2022 at Clash at the Castle. He was spotted on camera for the Intercontinental Title bout between Gunther and Sheamus. However, after the show, the WWE legend once again lambasted WWE for the same reasons stated above. In a nutshell, Bret Hart may never get along with modern ways of wrestling, as he’s not willing to accept that the time have changed.
