AEW is officially four years old now, in 2023. One of the stars who is involved with the company since its inception is Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. The former women’s world champion took to Twitter to post a message on this big occasion.

Britt Baker was the first female wrestler to sign with the new promotion back in 2019. She emphatically remembers the time four years ago, saying, “Has it really been 4 years today? Wow. We’ve come a long way, but there’s still work to be done. LFG. Love me or hate me, I’ll always be the first female signed to @AEW.” She also posted a photo of herself at the inaugural press conference of AEW.

Billionaire Tony Khan and former ROH and NJPW wrestlers Cody Rhodes, Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega founded AEW four years ago. They held their first press conference on January 8, 2019, where they announced some independent wrestlers as well as big names joining the promotion. These included, SoCal Uncensored, “Hangman” Adam Page, Britt Baker, and former WWE stars Chris Jericho and Pac. The promotion would go on to sign many other wrestlers in the following months before making their TV debut on October 2nd. Currently, AEW is the second biggest wrestling promotion in the United States after WWE.

Britt Baker made her in-ring debut at AEW’s inaugural event, Double or Nothing, where she defeated Nyla Rose, Awesome Kong, and Kylie Rae in a four-way match. Initially, she was involved in PPV pre-shows and some mid-card feuds. Her first title match was at the Homecoming edition of Dynamite on January 1st, 2020, where she was unsuccessful.

In November 2020, Britt Baker started one of the biggest feuds in the AEW women’s division against Thunder Rosa. The two met for the first time in February 2021 at the Beach Break episode of Dynamite, where Baker came out as the victor. But Rosa would get the win back just the following month at the St. Patrick’s Day Slam in a critically acclaimed Unsanctioned Lights Out match.

Baker has been a big star in AEW ever since and soon won the women’s title at Double or Nothing 2021. The D.M.D. would go on to have a dominant run as the women’s world champion for 290 days. On the anniversary of their Lights Out match, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa agreed to have a Steel cage match at the 2021 St. Patrick’s Day Slam for the women’s title. Rosa would finally get an official win against her rival and become the new women’s champion in the process. Recently, she has been involved in a feud with Saraya, the former Paige, and Toni Storm. Fans consider Britt Baker one of the biggest pillars in the AEW women’s division and an example of a homegrown star.
