“They wanted to rip my shirt off”; Charlotte flair’s former opponent opens up on an embarrassing segment
Charlotte Flair is a 12-time WWE women’s champion and has been involved in many memorable feuds in her WWE career. She has battled it out with almost every woman in the locker room, be it Sasha Banks, Bayley, Lacy Evans and many more. The Queen of WWE started her career in WWE’s NXT brand and went on to become its Womens Champion and when she debuted on the on the main roster, there was no looking back.
Despite so many memorable feuds, there have been some feuds which were critically ridiculed by the fans, one such being her feud against Toni Storm. Toni Storm debuted on Smackdown in July last year and later went on to challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown women’s title. While many fans generally praised WWE for pushing Storm on the main roster, one segment in the feud was mostly criticized by the fans, also blaming the same segments for Toni’s sudden departure from WWE.
In an interview on AEW unrestricted, Toni Storm gave her thoughts with some shocking revelations:
I was actually quite happy with that segment that day. It was a lot better than the original idea. The original idea was like, I was called up and asked if I was comfortable having my shirt ripped off or something. They wanted to do this whole angle where they wanted to rip my shirt off to be embarrassed, in my underwear, I guess.
Without revealing names, she said that many of her co-workers fought for her against the segment and it was eventually changed to her receiving a pie on her face:
“When you’re asked if you’re comfortable to do that and literally, people are being fired every single week, it’s like, ‘Well, yeah, I guess I’m comfortable with that.’ [said with nervous sarcasm]. Then, a lot of people fought to not have that happen. That would have been a terrible idea. To be honest, the pie was actually quite a sweet treat in comparison to what it could have been. In hindsight, I don’t really mad. I’m not even mad.”
