“I didn’t grow up a wrestling fan”- When Charlotte Flair revealed that she wasn’t a WWE fan growing up

Charlotte Flair in WWE
Charlotte Flair is one of the most talented women athletes in WWE and has been an unstoppable force since her WWE debut. Charlotte Flair has been absent from WWE since her loss to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash. She had entered this year’s Royal Rumble and it was a big deal for her as she was the SmackDown Women’s Champion, Flair was eliminated by Rousey and the latter would challenge her for a bout at WrestleMania 38. Charlotte managed to defeat Ronda at the event.
Charlotte Flair has taken time off from WWE to marry her longtime boyfriend and Former WWE Superstar Andrade. Charlotte Flair’s first Championship win in WWE was the NXT Women’s Championship, she had won by competing in the eight-woman tournament and defeated Natalya in the finals at the NXT TakeOver event in May 2014. Charlotte Flair lost the Championship to Sasha Banks at NXT TakeOver: Rival in February 2014, thereby ending her reign of 258 days.
Charlotte Flair is the first RAW Women’s Champion

In February 2016, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks competed in a No. 1 Contender’s match for the Divas Championship against Flair at WrestleMania 32, but the bout ended in a double pin. Thereafter, on an edition of SmackDown, Flair assaulted both ladies, resulting in a no-contest. As a result, she was set to defend her Divas championship against both females in a triple threat match at WrestleMania. At the event, Sasha Banks performed Bank Statement on Becky, but Flair pushed Sasha out of the ring. Flair then applied the Figure-Eight Leglock to Becky Lynch and Ric Flair blocked Sasha from entering the ring. Becky tapped out, and as a result Charlotte Flair won the WWE Women’s Championship.
Charlotte Flair didn’t always desire to be a WWE Women’s Champion. Back in March of this year, Charlotte Flair had given an interview to CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri and she had claimed that she had not always been a fan of the WWE and had not grown up to be one. Because of her father Ric Flair, Charlotte Flair claimed that everyone believes she has always been involved in wrestling.
When Flair fought Trish Stratus at SummerSlam, she said that it wasn’t her inner kid that was driving her; rather, it was about what Stratus meant to the business and that Trish wanted to wrestle with her. Charlotte Flair concluded by noting that she met her expectations and that pressure comes from situations like these.
“I didn’t grow up a WWE fan. I didn’t grow up a wrestling fan. Everyone just assumes because my dad is who he is. I didn’t get in the business until super late. It’s more just about respect. Like when I had my match against Trish at SummerSlam, it wasn’t the inner child in me, it was more what Trish meant to the business, and she came back to want to wrestle me, so I have to live up to her expectation. So it’s never like a little kid moment. It’s more like these moments that cause pressure”.
Charlotte Flair is expected to return soon to WWE, it has been speculated that she would be returning in August on an edition of SmackDown.
