Matt Cardona is married to WWE Superstar Chelsea Green. A few hours ago, Cardona posted a video on Twitter. In that, he’s seen imparting some wrestling knowledge to his indie partner and former WWE NXT Superstar, Steph De Langer. After the latter started manhandling her own preacher, Matt decided to pivot the genre and taught Langer how to unhook a Hammerlock.
To do so, he told Steph to bend down in front of himself. Intentional or not, Steph and Cardona got into a position most couples derive pleasure from. Before they could change anything, Chelsea Green arrived out of nowhere and caught them red-handed. She started screaming in agony and questioned what the hell was going on.
At present, Green is signed to WWE and appears on Monday Night Raw. Ever since her arrival at the Royal Rumble this year, she’s been on a roll. Exploring the new dimensions of a Karen gimmick, she has absolutely nailed the character so far. She’d be hoping for her husband to make the jump to WWE soon enough.
Matt Cardona, who proclaims himself as the Indy God, has grown into a different breed. When he got released from WWE in 2020, he vowed to push the goalpost further and hasn’t looked back an inch since then. Matt has already made it clear that he definitely plans to return to WWE one day. However, until he’s completely confident enough to make the move, he’ll continue to perform on the Independent circuit.

Does Matt Cardona have a future in WWE?

During his previous stint with the Stamford-based promotion, the then-Zack Ryder never won a World Championship. The apex of his career arrived at WrestleMania 32. In front of over 100,000 in attendance, Ryder captured the Intercontinental Title in a multi-man ladder match. As soon as he unhooked the strap at the AT&T stadium, the place went bonkers.
Everyone, including Zack himself, thought that his IC Title win was the start of something big for him. However, that turned out to be his biggest WWE achievement to date. Despite his growing popularity at the time, Vince McMahon never pushed him as a main-event guy. His last run with the company came alongside Curt Hawkins as a tag team.
The question remains whether Cardona would be eager to make a WWE return. Well, he has a few conditions for that. That obviously includes a bit of creative freedom. Much like his good friend Cody Rhodes, he would love to bag a similar kind of deal. Also, Cardona has already named Rhodes as his dream opponent from the current WWE roster. Time will tell whether fans will get to see these two cross paths in a WWE ring or not.
