Last week’s WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite witnessed an explosive battle of supremacy, with both brands going head-to-head. NXT brought in prominent names such as John Cena, The Undertaker, and Cody Rhodes to eclipse Dynamite in ratings. In a recent interview, former WWE Champion Chris Jericho addressed the Tuesday Night War, revealing that he suggested Tony Khan get Mike Tyson and Snoop Dogg onboard to offset NXT’s strategy.

Chris Jericho recently appeared on The Messenger for an interview where he revealed that he approached Tony Khan with an idea to rake in higher ratings for Dynamite. Jericho said, “I told Tony, ‘Well, if you want to fire back, bring in Shaq and Snoop Dogg and those types of guys, Mike Tyson, but Tony didn’t do that. We relied on our show and our guys and our girls, and that’s the way it’s always been for us.”

The 52-year-old stated that he had advised the AEW President to retaliate against NXT’s calculative game plan. As a result, he wanted Tony Khan to bring in celebrities such as Mike Tyson and Snoop Dogg to match the star power of NXT’s episode. However, Khan didn’t want to bank on a temporary third party to boost the ratings. Thus, the AEW President pulled off the show by harnessing their existing talents.

Despite AEW’s best efforts, the Gold brand emerged victorious by a wide margin. NXT garnered a tremendous 0.30 key demo, nearly touching a million viewers, while Dynamite’s ratings dipped and it scored 0.26 in the demo. The two promotions are set to square off once again as AEW Collision clashes with SmackDown in the coming November.

The Tuesday Night War between AEW Dynamite and NXT had the wrestling fans excited. The two brands went to great lengths, vying for brand supremacy. Speaking of the Tuesday Night War on The Messenger, Y2J said, “So, don’t get too far up your own a** because you didn’t do that good of a job as far as crushing us. And our show was better than theirs, quite frankly. So, it doesn’t bother me.” The former AEW Champion stated that Dynamite put out an excellent episode regardless of the ratings they scored.

The 52-year-old warned WWE to not kick up a stink about defeating AEW Dynamite. The Gold brand didn’t do a good job as far as the episode quality is concerned, according to Jericho. Furthermore, he added that NXT bringing in big names is just the same as football leagues getting former stars like Tom Brady for one game and then boasting about increased viewership.
