CM Punk made his WWE in-ring return after almost a decade at the Madison Square Garden live event. The Second City Saint defeated Dominik Mysterio in the anticipated bout. Interestingly, Chris Jericho reacted to his former co-worker’s massive night, days after a heated online confrontation with Punk’s lawyer, Stephen P. New.
The wrestling legend congratulated the Best In The World on Instagram, replying to the WWE official account’s post. Immediately, fans online pointed out Jericho’s hypocrisy. The former World Champion has always given different opinions about CM Punk. Recently, Y2J launched a scathing attack, implicitly revealing that Punk’s side was at fault during Brawl Out.
Earlier this year, the veteran reportedly pitched to work with the Straight Edge Superstar prior to the latter’s AEW return. However, CM Punk seemingly shot down the idea. During his stint in the company, the pair never crossed paths in the squared circle.
At the moment, Chris Jericho is involved in a rivalry against the Don Callis family and the Tag Team Champions, Ricky Starks and Big Bill. Meanwhile, CM Punk will compete against Dominik Mysterio at yet another live event on December 30. In addition to that, he has announced his entry in the Royal Rumble match, intending to “finish his story.”
Chris Jericho reunites with Sammy Guevara ahead of AEW World’s End
Sammy Guevara made his return to AEW on the December 27 edition of Dynamite. During the Don Callis family celebration segment, the former TNT Champion turned babyface again, with the rest of the faction attacking him. Later, Chris Jericho made the save, which led to the duo reuniting again.
The Tag Team Champions, Ricky Starks and Big Bill, attacked the duo. Surprisingly, Sting and Darby Allin made the save to set up an eight-man tag team match for World’s End. Previously, a title match was scheduled to take place at the pay-per-view. However, Kenny Omega was sidelined with diverticulitis, with the bout being dropped subsequently.
Sammy Guevara’s sudden turn came as a shock to fans online. Prior to his hiatus, the 30-year-old had just joined the Callis family, betraying Chris Jericho as well. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how the reunion between mentor and student plays out this time.
