WWE surprisingly adds CM Punk to a major show days before WrestleMania 40

CM Punk may not be healthy to compete anytime before the fall of this year. However, there’s still some ways he can be around WWE. Having said that, Punk’s now being advertised for the April 1 edition of Monday Night Raw. The show will emanate from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and serve as the go-home episode for WrestleMania XL.
There’s currently no word on why he has been promoted. The world knows he’s nursing his torn triceps. But he might be called in for a different role at The Showcase of the Immortals. Fans believe he could probably serve as the host of WrestleMania. A second theory suggests that the Chicago-based wrestler may even officiate one of the matches in Philadelphia.
The most obvious among them is Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre for the World Heavyweight title. The Best in the World is friends with neither Rollins nor McIntyre. Recently, The Visionary stated that he would rather suffer than saying a few positive words for Punk. And, on the other hand, Drew McIntyre hasn’t let CM Punk catch a breath these past few weeks.
Last Monday on Raw, The Scotsman joked that despite rupturing his eardrum at the Elimination Chamber, he’d be good to go for WrestleMania, as he’s not like The Second City Saint. All these factors lead one to believe that if Punk’s not hosting WrestleMania, he may be pegged to put on that zebra-themed referee t-shirt for Rollins vs. McIntyre. However, that may not be the wisest decision, as he’s only a month removed from the surgery he had to cure his triceps.
CM Punk has provided an update on his recovery
It’s no secret that CM Punk had his triceps mess it up for him at the worst possible time. He was believed to headline WrestleMania 40 against Seth Rollins. However, a spot in the men’s Royal Rumble match, where he abruptly landed off a future shock DDT from Drew McIntyre, ended his dreams.
But the question is: how long before the fans see him tango inside the squared circle again? A couple of weeks ago, Punk attended the UFC 298 event in Anaheim. There, the 45-year-old spoke to Caroline Pearce of TNT Sports and gave an update on his road to recovery.
The Voice of the Voiceless didn’t talk a long game and said he’d need anywhere between 6 and 8 months to get ring-ready. He also said he’s not in a rush to get healthy. Instead, Punk affirmed that he wants to get better.
