The Royal Rumble premium live event was special, highlighted by shocking surprises and earth-shattering debuts. However, the night did not end well for CM Punk, as he lost the Royal Rumble match after getting so close.
Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble twice in a row and eliminated CM Punk, who finished as a runner-up. During the match, Punk suffered a horrible injury due to a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre in the closing stretch. The 45-year-old rolled around the corner and was seen communicating with the referee regarding his injury. In a clip that has surfaced online, he can be seen signaling to Jessica Carr that he hurt his triceps.
It was brave of Punk to still complete the match without any major problems. He eliminated Drew McIntyre and engaged in an 8-minute fight with The American Nightmare. He made an appearance on this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw with a tapped arm and announced that he would not be able to wrestle at WrestleMania.
Punk addressed the WWE Universe and said he had torn his triceps and was going to be out of action for several months. Now that The Second City Saint is out of the picture, it will heavily impact the card of The Biggest Show of Them All. Only time will tell what the future holds for both CM Punk and Seth Rollins.
Drew McIntyre showed no sympathy for CM Punk after their fiery promo battle on Raw
Drew McIntyre has been operating on another level for the past few months. He was frustrated with not getting more opportunities and not capitalizing on the ones he did. It looked like he vented all his frustrations at CM Punk in the Royal Rumble match.
Punk suffered an arm injury from the Future Shock DDT performed by The Scottish Warrior. On this week’s episode of Raw, McIntyre got out of control and said he prayed for Punk’s downfall, and that’s why he targeted him. The 45-year-old gave a befitting reply to Drew and claimed that when he comes back from the injury, he will be the first person on his hit list.
I’m going to live CM Punk’s dream and main event WrestleMania… AGAIN.
Drew McIntyre on X
According to reports, The Best in the World might be out for over 4 months, which means he will miss WrestleMania. Many fans were left disappointed with the injuries of Rollins and now Punk. McIntyre shared a post on X saying he will take Punk’s place at the main event, WrestleMania. It will be interesting to see where this storyline goes in the upcoming weeks.
