Well, yesterday a significant update over CM Punk about his AEW future cleared some air on many aspects. After being suspended over the post-media scrum shenanigans, Punk and The Elite weren’t even getting their mentions on AEW programming, worsening the matter. Tony Khan formulated an investigation committee to unveil the truth.

It seems like the lighting has struck CM Punk directly as both the parties (himself and AEW) are reportedly negotiating his contract buy-out. The only thing holding up the conversations reaching a conclusion is the “fear” of Punk possibly jumping to WWE. With obvious reasons, people quickly started to count their chickens over Punk’s unprecedented return to the company he became fed up of.

We do have a concrete update upon the backstage feeling in WWE over the latest development on the Chicago native. According to Fightful Select, the new regime in the promotion is just adamant on producing compelling television. Bringing Punk on the board surely falls under that category. WWE sources indicated that the management is open for “anything within reason“.

“Triple H wants to be a success and make compelling programming more than anything,” per the report. “CM Punk back in WWE is compelling programming, but I can’t see it being a full-time deal like what he has in AEW, because of exactly what happened in AEW. That’s even if he has interest. If he gets a buyout, he may not need to work again.”

CM Punk and Triple H never got along together

Nobody needs a detailed novel about the tensed relationship of CM Punk and Triple H as the latter disliked Punk from the beginning. This probably began when Punk was using the Pepsi Plunge dating back to his ROH days, Hunter however believed that as a mimic to his own persona.

Nevertheless, keeping his personal issues apart, Triple H has openly stated that he’ll be very open towards Phil, given he sparks any interest in a business bonding with him. Adding up on this, Hunter might do the unthinkable and somehow crack the deal with Punk if everything is pointing in that direction.
