CM Punk overcomes personal disappointment to react to Bayley’s well-deserved Royal Rumble match win
The Best in the World knows that Bayley has paid her dues.

Last night, after lasting for 63 minutes, Bayley set a new record while etching her name in the history books. And that couldn’t keep a good friend of hers, CM Punk, from lauding The Role Model. Despite facing a disappointment of his own, Punk congratulated Bayley through an Instagram story. The Best in the World seems genuinely happy for the former Women’s Champion.
Bayley, who drew number 3 in the Women’s Rumble, displayed unprecedented longevity. In the end, it came down to herself, debutant Jade Cargill, and a returning Liv Morgan. All three women were swinging at anything that moved on the ring apron. The Damage CTRL leader moved out of the precarious situation, and she let Morgan and Jade duke it out. Once Liv eliminated Cargill, Bayley tripped Morgan’s feet to get her off balance.
The fans erupted in jubilation as Bayley found herself as the lone survivor in the ring. On the other hand, her buddy, CM Punk, too, went the distance. The closing stretch saw him wrangling with Cody Rhodes. It felt like a singles match for a while until Punk snapped. The Voice of the Voiceless rekindled his demonic persona and said he didn’t come back to lose to Dusty’s kid.
And just when Punk thought he had Cody, the latter reversed the momentum. It was The American Nightmare’s dream that came alive in Tropicana Field. Punk, in dismay, watched his counterpart point towards that WrestleMania sign. That also puts CM Punk’s road to WrestleMania in jeopardy. It would be interesting to see how he’ll follow it up.
How does WrestleMania 40 look like for CM Punk and Bayley?
The upcoming few months are going to be extremely pivotal for the aforementioned names. On one hand, Bayley has booked a berth at WrestleMania 40. That means she can now tee off with a champion of her choosing.
Even though she said she was coming after Rhea Ripley, rumors suggest otherwise. A face turn may be on the cards for Bayley, as she could pull off a major swerve by challenging her Damage CTRL member, Iyo Sky, at The Showcase of the Immortals.
On the other side, things aren’t so alluring for CM Punk. He just lost a direct gateway to headline WWE’s biggest event of the year. It’s not over for him, but it would take an unprecedented effort from the Chicago-based wrestler to claim a main-event spot in Philadelphia. This week’s Raw will answer a lot of burning queries.
