Former AEW and WWE Champion CM Punk is arguably one of the most controversial figures in wrestling history. He continues to trend despite not featuring in any programming for over a month. Since fired from AEW, fans have been speculating about the possibility of Punk returning to WWE. Additionally, new reports suggest that the Second City Saint might have an interest in trying that out.
Ringside News reported that CM Punk has been wanting to return to the Stamford-based promotion for quite some time now. Therefore, the people close to him are trying to create a buzz about his potential signing with the company. This could result in the higher-ups in TKO and Endeavor taking notice of it. However, trusted sources from Ringside News said that there were no talks between the two parties as of yet.
On the other hand, multiple other reports have been suggesting since last week that WWE is, in fact, interested in Punk’s return. Rumors are that the Second City Saint might return to the Stamford-based promotion as soon as November. This is because WWE is hosting Survivor Series in Chicago this year, which happens to be the hometown of CM Punk.
Therefore, the prospect of the former AEW Champion showing up on WWE after almost a decade is very high. With the Survivor Series taking place in November, things might be on the horizon. It will be interesting to see whether fans will get to hear the “Cult of Personality” once again in WWE.
Potential opponent for CM Punk at WrestleMania 40
The rumors of CM Punk being interested in returning to WWE have been one of the highlights of the past few days. Therefore, there have been rumors about his potential opponent if he returns. The top name that was thrown around is World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. WWE has been allegedly teasing Punk’s return and Rollins is one of the names that has dropped Punk’s reference many times.
He was Cody Rhodes’ first opponent when he came back in 2022. That was a fantastic move, as the two had an amazing rivalry. Therefore, fans should hope that CM Punk and Seth Rollins keep their differences aside and patch up.
However, nothing can be said as of now because Rollins has publicly shown his dislike for the former AEW superstar in the past. It is no secret that CM Punk has a bad impression on a lot of superstars in WWE. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how WWE and Punk try to find a solution if the latter were to come back.
