“You’re lost,” Cody Rhodes comments on the infamous All Out post-scrum brawl between CM Punk & The Elite
One of the former core members of AEW, Cody Rhodes shares how heartbroken he felt after the events that transpired at All Out last year.
Cody Rhodes and CM Punk
CM Punk set the wrestling world on fire last year when he took shots at the AEW EVPs at All Out post-show media scrum, which led to a real-life backstage brawl. It was one of the biggest news of 2022 and got reactions from everyone around the wrestling community. Now, former AEW EVP Cody Rhodes has also given his thoughts on the event for the first time.
The American Nightmare recently made an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and talked about the infamous press conference and the brawl. Rhodes revealed that he received around 63 messages the next morning. At first, he was worried that someone from AEW had taken shots at him. However, it turned out to be something completely different.
It was heartbreaking for the former AEW Star to see the company he built, lose track in such a way. Cody Rhodes said, “No heat on Punk. No heat on Matt, Nick, Kenny, or Tony, I was just bummed out when I saw it. That’s not how we envisioned it. The spirit of ‘All In,’ if you ever lose the spirit, you’re lost. I think the spirit was gone in that moment”
CM Punk has not been seen on AEW TV since the brawl. However, The Elite returned to the company in November and eventually regained the Trios title to continue their reign. The Best in the World is currently recovering from a torn tricep while still under contract with AEW. The company is expected to soon release Punk, as he has garnered a lot of heat from officials and wrestlers backstage.

Cody Rhodes talks about his relationship with Triple H
During the same conversation with Ariel Helwani, Cody Rhodes dove deep into his relationship with Triple H. The American Nightmare said, “I hope this isn’t too divulging, nothing has been forced. I’m not trying to force my ideas or a friendship. He’s not trying [either]. Everything he has said to me, or we’ve talked about has been very deliberate. We’ve yet to really hit a road bump. They’re gonna come. I keep using different sports analogies, but we’re gonna fumble the ball. We’re gonna have these moments.”
In past interviews as well, the American Nightmare has talked positively about The Game. He said that the things he did in AEW were in good spirits, while maintaining that Triple H is still his favorite wrestler. Cody Rhodes is gearing up to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the main event of WrestleMania 39. The Biggest Show of The Year would stream live from SoFi Stadium on April 1 and 2.
