Cody Rhodes feels like his injury healing period will not last longer

Cody Rhodes recently competed inside of the Hell in a Cell against Seth “Freakin” Rollins with a torn pectoral muscle. Despite the horrendous purple scars around his left shoulder, Cody valiantly fought his battle inside the cell taking multiple brutal shots over his already bruised body. The match ended when Cody put Seth Rollins through a Sledgehammer shot. This match got a 5 star rating from Dave Meltzer which made this as the first one since CM Punk vs. John Cena at Money in the Bank in 2011 to receive such rating.

The following Monday on WWE Raw, The American Nightmare officially revealed his injury to the entire WWE Universe. The night didn’t went smooth for Cody as his arch rival Seth Rollins once again took him out by trapping him into his heelish underhanded tactics and attacking Rhodes from behind through a Sledgehammer. Although viciously beaten up by Rollins, Cody Rhodes refused to get stretchered out of the arena instead of walking away all by his own.

The next week, WWE announced that Cody Rhodes had undergone a successful surgery to repair his torn pec and also announced that he will stay away from in-ring competition for 9 long months as part of the recovery period. In one of his recent Instagram posts, Cody Rhodes seemed really optimistic about his WWE return as he went onto say that,

I’ve heard 9 months, that’s their plan… I’ve never concerned myself with other people’s projections — I’ve got a plan of my own — let’s finish, all of us.

When Cody’s injury nature was revealed initially, many experts believed that the healing period would be around 6-7 months but WWE went over that projection to announce a prolonged healing period of 9 months for Cody Rhodes.

Now, it is being said that WWE also believe Cody would be back much sooner than 9 months and they want to surprise their fans by making Rhodes return sooner than officially announced. Some reports also suggested that WWE could recreate that iconic 2001/02 injury return of Triple H to maximize the crowd reaction for the American Nightmare.

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at Wrestlemania 38

After making his grand return to WWE at Wrestlemania earlier this year, Cody Rhodes spoke for the first time in 6 years in front of the WWE Universe on Raw after Wrestlemania 38. He cut an emotional promo mentioning his late Hall of Fame father ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes in the conversation. Cody said that he wants to bestow that WWE Undisputed Universal Championship upon his father.

He made his intentions crystal clear regarding his eventual goal after WWE return which is to win that Undisputed Universal Championship. Well, it looks like Cody will have to wait until next year to fulfill his dream of winning the gold.

Cody Rhodes could realistically return at next year’s Royal Rumble premium-live-event winning the 30-man Royal Rumble match entering as a potential surprise entrant which would guarantee him a World Title opportunity at Wrestlemania 39 in Los Angeles. What could be a bigger moment than to become the World Champion in the main-event of Wrestlemania?
