WWE superstar Cody Rhodes has become the face of WWE, in just 2 years after making a move from rival company, AEW. From once being released from WWE to being a perennial main eventer in every show, he has certainly come a long way.

The American Nightmare took to X and reflected on the final promo he gave before leaving AEW two years ago. He reacted and sent an emotional message by saying he felt privileged that he got to say his final goodbye in front of an amazing crowd. Cody further added he still has fond memories of that night.

In that promo, Rhodes talked about CM Punk‘s famous pipebomb promo and how it revolutionized the industry. He further said he was the one who created the Forbidden Door, referencing the start of the rivalry between the two companies and much more.

The 38-year-old also talked about Tony Khan and how he didn’t mail him his desired contract, which ultimately led him to join WWE. The rest is history, as he became one of the top superstars in the company and will look forward to winning the Royal Rumble and finishing the story at WrestleMania.

2023 could be said to be a year of returns, as many top superstars returned and made their mark again. One of those stars was Cody Rhodes, who returned from a torn pec to win the Royal Rumble. After that return, he was the star who became the talk of the town among the wrestling community.

Cody took to X and replied to one of the posts in which he was announced the PWI Most Popular Wrestler of the Year. He won the award by 27% of votes because of his impressive accomplishments throughout the year.

Since his return after a horrific injury, Rhodes won the Royal Rumble and lost the main event of WrestleMania. Although he wasn’t able to capture the singles gold, he won the Tag Team titles with Jey Uso. He also became the superstar with the most numbers of wins in 2023. It will be interesting to see whether he will be able to finish his story or if some other star will take his spot.
