“That was a shock to me”, Cody Rhodes reveals Vince McMahon’s reaction on his definitive neck tattoo

At WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes gallantly returned to the WWE and with that, he brought with him the American Nightmare look he acquired during his absence, which included his contentious neck tattoo of the nightmare family symbol. He even retained his theme song ‘Kingdom’ that he used during his independent outing as the ‘The American Nightmare’.

Fans and industry figures were critical of the tattoo on American Nightmare, which many suspected Vince McMahon would disapprove of after Cody returned to the company. But as time has passed, it seems that WWE has come to terms with Cody’s tattoo on his neck. WWE has been customarily very much protective of its Big names, even requesting talent for consent to get tattoos.

The 36-year-old, however, told Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso that no one in WWE had something critical to say about his tattoo design:

“Vince hasn’t said anything about the tattoo. I’ve been waiting for some of these guys who knew me back in the day to say something, specifically Bruce and Michael Hayes. Even Randy hasn’t said anything, and that was a shock to me because I wasn’t a tattoo guy and he was covered”.

He went on to explain that WWE will indeed sell temporary tattoos throughout their stores:

“Temporary tattoos are going to be released by WWE Shop, and people now see it as an extension of me. That’s what it is. When I was here before, everyone tried to tell me who I was. That wasn’t a bad thing—I was searching, too. Now I’m reaching my final form. That’s why I am sticking to my guns about my character, keeping it as close as possible to who I am. But I’ll promise you this—I’m not getting another one”.

Cody Rhodes to face Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell

Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes are currently embroiled in a feud against each other, and the two are going to face each other at WWE’s next premium live event, Hell in a Cell. The two have already faced each other at Wrestlemania 38, and on Wrestlemania Backlash and in both the instances, Cody Rhodes turned out triumphant. Now on this week’s RAW, when he appeared on Tron, Rollin’s said that having lost in two consecutive matches, Rhodes “took something away” from him, which prompted Cody to issue a challenge for Hell in a Cell, which Rollins accepted.
