Cody Rhodes might’ve left AEW forever but, he ain’t going to relegate his relationship with his former colleagues. As is known, Rhodes was among the founding figures of All Elite Wrestling alongside The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks). Those men had quixotic ambitions for the company at the time. It would be safe to say that the Tony Khan-owned promotion wouldn’t have been a thing today without Cody Rhodes and The Elite.
Even before reuniting in AEW, those men were together as part of The Bullet Club. Needless to say, they’ve traveled across the globe as a cohesive unit. Once Rhodes exited AEW, fans started to wonder about the state of their relationship. Some even inquired whether they’d even be the same again. Putting the speculation spree to rest, Cody himself addressed the topic recently.
Prior to the grand launch of his documentary, The American Nightmare spoke with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. The latter asked Cody about his present bond with The Elite. Squashing the negative rumors, if any, the former AEW EVP said that he stays in touch with his buddies and communicates quite frequently. Rhode also confirmed that he took The Young Bucks’ consent to include BTE’s (Being the Elite) footage in his own documentary.
Rhodes further iterated that it doesn’t make a difference to their relationship if he never gets to share the ring with The Elite again. According to the Prodigal Son’s exact wording, they’re “bonded for life.” That’s more than enough to determine Cody’s relationship with The Elite. No matter if they’re working for different companies, real friends don’t change.
Cody Rhodes’ homecoming got spoiled on WWE Raw

This week on Raw, Cody Rhodes returned to his home turf of Atlanta. The sold-out State Farm Arena gave a deafening ovation to their hometown hero. Also, The American Nightmare took a moment to hug his mother and family sitting front row. However, the meet-and-greet session was soon invaded by the Beast Incarnate.
After a brief cat and mouse game, Brock Lesnar showed up, attacking Rhodes via a pre-planned trap. The Beast dragged Rhodes out to the arena with multiple chair shots to his back. Adding more heat to the moment, Lesnar took him in front of his family. Cody’s mother Michelle and sister Teil were helpless to see The Prodigal Son getting laid out so badly.
By the time Brock finished up with his assault, Cody Rhodes was completely down and out. The Beast even targeted Cody’s previously injured arm, courtesy of the Kimura Lock. Later on in the show, WWE officially confirmed that Rhodes and Lesnar will battle once again at SummerSlam next month. Also, they’re rumored to add a stipulation to their rubber match in Detroit.
