Cody Rhodes worked in the Indies for quite some time and climbed the ladder of success following his departure from WWE. However, he came back and is having a brilliant run in the WWE. He is arguably one of the biggest stars in the company currently. The second-generation wrestler had to climb his way to his current position.

The American Nightmare left the Stamford-based promotion in 2016, citing creative differences. Soon after that, he started appearing on independent circuits. Cody recently held a Twitter Q&A on the eve of his Peacock documentary. During this session, he was asked about his favorite moment from the independent circuit.

Cody Rhodes replied by saying, “That was such a rewarding period, it felt like everything was a favorite moment (from V Kurt for WCPW all the way to Sonjay throwing pre-workout in my face somewhere in the Carolinas).” Furthermore, he mentioned that the habit his team developed of taking post-show pictures in a ring was also sweet.

In WCPW, the 38-year-old had a classic match against Kurt Angle in 2016. He interacted with plenty of well-known figures in wrestling, such as Drew McIntyre, Pete Dunne, and Kazuchika Okada. Three years later, Cody had created a rival company to the WWE, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he served as an EVP and superstar until 2022.

“Dealing with the death of my dad was such a shock to our family,” he further revealed. The 38-year-old mentioned that it was the toughest time he had gone through in his life.
