As Cody Rhodes buckles up for WrestleMania 39, he is constantly making headlines with his statements. The American Nightmare has been appearing on interviews doing media rounds to promote the Show of Shows. There is no doubt that Cody is currently one of the top guys in WWE and his opinions on certain things matter. The Roller-codester recently sparked the topic regarding former WWE Superstar, Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder). Cardona is officially a free agent now in the pro wrestling industry as well.

Cody Rhodes recently made an appearance on the Good Karma Wrestling podcast. The American Nightmare addressed a lot of aspects while talking on the podcast. Cody also answered the question related to the former NWA World heavyweight champion, Matt Cardona. Rhodes called Cardona the current king of Indies.

He also stated that he is really proud of Matt’s current run and believes what Cardona does in future will be huge. Cody also discussed whether Cardona should join AEW or return to the WWE, since he is a free agent now. He also admitted that he is not on good terms with Cardona right now.

Rhodes said, “If he goes to AEW, that’d be cool but if he comes back to WWE, that’s what I want, it would be off the charts. I think he’s a huge get, a huge free agent, he’s the best he’s ever been but he’s really pissed me off. I have no good karma with Matt Cardona at the moment.” Considering the rumors and reports, Cardona could sign with any big wrestling promotion after his free agency. However, fans will have to stay tuned to find out which way he goes.

Cody Rhodes shared a story revealing he set up a meeting for Matt Cardona with someone in management. However he didn’t uncover the name of the company. Cody expressed how Cardona tanked the meeting and hit a big line in front of him.

Rhodes revealed, “He said, ‘I just wanna make it clear, I’m never putting on a Nightmare Family jacket or associating myself with him on-screen.’ I got you the meeting! Why!? Why did you just — under the bus right away so and then he said some other things that I’ll save for the story in a more longform setting but, I love Matt Cardona, I’m greatly irritated with him at the moment.“

If Cody legitimately is not on good Karma with Cardona at the moment, It would be interesting if he returns to the WWE. There real life relations could be turned into a storyline as well.
