At Sunday’s Hell In A Cell premium live event, Cody Rhodes’ muscle tear was physically laid bare in dramatic form. Rhodes disclosed he’d been injured just before the bout, building huge anticipation for the moment he removed his jacket and revealed the full scale of the injury.

According to Cody Rhodes’ wife Brandi Rhodes, the WWE star had undergone “successful surgery” on his injured pectoral muscle. This recent development will definitely excite Rhodes’ supporters, as well as those in WWE who are looking for his quick comeback.

In a tweet, Brandi wrote, “The doctor just repaired Cody’s pectoral tendon which was torn completely off the bone. Successful surgery. He is on the road to recovery now.”

Before the break, The American Nightmare’s main event match with Seth Rollins strongly suggested he’d be a top-line fixture in the near and long term, with the injury serving as an unwelcome setback. The injury was woven into the bout, with a follow-up write-up the next night on Monday Night Raw.

Though no timetable for his return has been specified, the “path to recovery” should be sped up if the procedure goes well. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

On Monday night RAW, Rhodes revealed that he would undergo surgery this week. Soon, he also posted a photo of his injury on social media. Although he hinted at competing at WWE Money in the Bank on July 2, it remains to be seen if he gets fit before that.
