“This is quite literally a golden opportunity”- Corey Graves comments on Carmella replacing Rhea Ripley at Money in the Bank

Carmella will get a Raw Women’s Title shot at the upcoming Money in the Bank premium live event when she challenges the Champion Bianca Belair. Actually this was never the plan as originally Rhea Ripley was scheduled to face Belair for the title, but everything got turn around when WWE pulled out Ripley from that spot and crowned a new No. 1 contender for the Raw Women’s Championship at MITB. Last week on Raw, Carmella won fatal-5-way match against Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, Asuka and Alexa Bliss to affirm herself a championship match at Money in the Bank against Belair.

WWE commentator and Carmella’s husband Corey Graves recently commented on the massive flip around of the Raw Women’s Title picture following the exclusion of Rhea Ripley and called this match as a “golden opportunity” for Carmella to once again prove her worth to everyone doubting her even a bit. Graves also mentioned that injuries do happen in this business and one needs to be ready for everything given the circumstances. Here’s what exactly Corey Graves had to say,

This was not the plan, alright? The WWE Universe knows that. That’s no secret,” Graves said. “Everyone was looking forward to Bianca and Rhea and Carmella said to me, ‘What am I going to do now? I’ve got Bianca,’ she’s competed against Bianca numerous times and I said, ‘You need to look at this for what it is, this is quite literally a golden opportunity.’ Not necessarily only speaking about the ‘Raw’ Women’s Championship, I mean the placement in the card.

Carmella is not going to face the EST of WWE for the first time in less than week at Money in the Bank cause she’s has already been in the ring with her previously. The very first WWE show back with live audience featured a Carmella vs. Bianca Belair match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship which Belair won after pinning Mella with a Kiss of Death finishing manuever.

Carmella has been performing on WWE main-roster since 2016 where she initially debuted on Smackdown Live as the Princess of Staten Island gimmick and began a feud with Nikki Bella upon her arrival. She quickly rose to success after she won the inaugural Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match the very next year in 2017 by the assistance of James Ellsworth.

She also successfully cashed-in her contract on Charlotte Flair and became the Smackdown Women’s Champion. She is also the 2019 Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal winner and a 1-time WWE Women’s Tag Team champion with Zelinaa Vega.
